This year will be year of the tiger (ROAR!), on 1st February 2022. Chinese New Year is based on the Lunar calendar so the dates change each year.

There are 12 animals for the Chinese Zodiac. Starting with the rat and last animal is pig. Do you know which animal you are?

Today’s free SVG is used to stick on our front door or around the house. The Chinese character '福' says 'Good Luck' or 'Fortune'. When you go to someone’s house or shop you will see '福' posters stuck around. BUT did you know often this will be placed upside down! This is because when '福' is upside down, this will be bring good luck to your home.

There's an old story with about how this started (and there's lots of different versions of this story). Long story short, during the Ming Dynasty, the Emperor told he's solider to turn the '福' paper/poster upside down, to mark the house to kill someone. The Empress found out and informed her people to tell everyone in the village to turn their symbol upside down. The Emperor was angry because they didn't know who was previously marked to be killed. The end!
