Apple Pie

Simple Apple Pie recipe

I didn't grow up with the hot apple pie you see in old movies/TV shows. But I did grow up with MacDonald's apple pie. I love the juicy apple taste and the deep fried pastry! It's not healthy for you, but I do eat it as a treat now and then.

This simple recipe is made with store brought square puff pastry and apples. It's quick and easy. It's baked in the oven, so it's more healthier than deep frying it.

Please see the instructions below:

Before we begin, preheat a fan-forced oven to 180C/350F.
: I use half an apple for each pastry piece.

1. Peel the apple and chop in half. Discard the cord and seeds, then chop in thin slices.
2. Slice the butter in strips or small squares
3. Slice the pastry in half. This will give you 2 pieces.
4. On the tray, lay out the baking paper.
5. Afterwards, place the pieces of pastry on top of the baking paper.
6. Place half of the sliced apples on one side of the pastry piece.
7. Sprinkle brown sugar, ground cinnamon, small amount of salt and butter Afterward fold the pastry over the apple mixture
8. Use a ford and press down the edges around the pastry. Make sure it is sealed well because the juice will come out while cooking
9. Brush the egg wash on top of the pastry.
10. Afterwards Add sugar on top (optional)
11. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden. Serve with ice-cream or cream.
