Today’s episode is about: Giving Directions.
Previous lesson was about “asking for directions”. Today’s shadowing is about “giving directions”.
In this lesson, we will focus on: Giving Directions and Directions with landmark.
In the end, I will give example sentences, to help you with what we have learnt today.
I hesitate when giving directions because I don’t remember road names but I do remember landmarks around the area. Lets go over the different ways of giving directions.
Giving Directions
Giving directions can be challenging because you will need to describe how to get from A to B location. You can use the following examples:
Turn right at the red light and you’ll see the “train station”.
Turn left and you’ll reach the “supermarket”.
You are going the wrong way. You will need to walk back towards the “fountain”.
Continue straight ahead. The “park” is in front.
The “bus stop” is across the road.
The “restaurant” is a few blocks away.
Take the first road on your left and you’ll see the “hotel”.
At the roundabout, turn left.
Directions with landmark
Next lesson is about directions with landmark. I am a visual person. I find it easier to give directions with landmark description. You can use the following examples:
The “department store” is next to the “hotel”.
Walk towards the “bus stop”, then turn right at the “supermarket”.
The “park” is in front of the “train station”.
Turn left at the “bank” and walk straight.
The “taxi stand” is across the road from the “toy store”.
Walk past the “school” and turn right, you’ll see the “cafe”.
Go straight ahead until you see the “hospital” and then you'll see the “university” on your left.
I hope above lesson helps you on your English journey. See you in the next lesson!
