Today’s episode is about: Asking For Directions .
Welcome to Niji Spiral’s English shadowing. Today’s shadowing is about “Asking for directions”. In this lesson, we will focus on: First Greeting and Asking For Directions. In the end, I will give example sentences, to help you with what we have learnt today.
This lesson is helpful because when you visit a new location, you can ask for help to get to your destination.
First Greeting
Before asking for directions, you need to catch someone’s attention. You can use the following examples as the first greeting:
· Excuse me, can I ask you a question?
· Sorry to interrupt, can I ask you for help?
· Sorry to bother you. Can I ask you for directions?
· Hi, could you help me please?
· Excuse me, I’m lost.
Asking for Directions
Next part is about asking for directions:
Can you help me find the “post office”?
Where is the closest “train station”?
How do I get to the closest “bus stop”?
How far is the “taxi stand”?
May I ask, where is the closest “ferry wharf” is?
I'm looking for the closest “park”?

Hello, can I ask where the nearest train station is?
Excuse me, is this the right direction to the department store?
Hi, sorry to bother you. Where is the nearest post office?
