Weekly Photo: White Ibis/Chicken bin
This is a White Ibis bird. It prefers habitats like the swamp but now it has moved into the urban/city areas.
In Sydney/Australia, people call these birds ‘chicken bin’. I have never seen them pecking at the dumpster. But like any other bird/animal I do see them pecking on food on the ground. I only came across the word chicken bin a few years ago when a friend was talking about the Ibis.
I see them in parks and it lives on the palm trees. I don’t know why they chose that tree, but there would be heaps of them in one tree.
I don’t know where these bird came from. I don’t remember seeing these bird when I was a kids. I guess it’s the opposite of the Rainbow Lorikeet. Maybe the Ibis took over and scared the Lorikeet away.
